Andy Robertson in contract talks at Liverpool

Andy Robertson has confirmed contract talks with Liverpool are ongoing as he has hinted a move away from the Reds could happen at the end of the season if he believes a move should happen.

Since joining from Hull City for a bargain £8m in 2017, the Scot has been virtually impossible to drop, making 362 appearances for the Reds. However, the current campaign has painted a different picture.

The LIVERPOOL ‘ Vice-captain has spent most of the season at left-back, with Milos Kerkez signed for £40 million in the summer and the Scotland captain is facing the toughest competition he has ever faced for a place in the side since breaking into the team.

Robertson has publicly opened the door to a possible exit this summer, acknowledging his lack of playing time is a major factor as he approaches the end of his contract in the summer.

Robertson has only started four Premier League games this season and he admits what happens next is uncertain after explaining negotiations have now begun.

“Yes, but it’s a difficult question,” Robertson admitted when asked whether he would extend his stay on Merseyside. “I have five months left and we have to see what the option is to stay or if there are options to go and things like that. I have to sit down with my family and decide.”

“I can concentrate on the last eight and a half years. I think Jurgen Klopp left me out for one game and I was furious. So I am a player who wants to play,” he explained. “I’ve played through injuries. I’ve played when I wasn’t 100% fit. I’ve played when I was only 50/40/30% fit for this club and my country.”

“I always want to be on the grass and play and obviously that’s not happening now, so that’s what’s different.”

There are a lot of people who agree with Robertson, there’s a lot to think about before deciding what he wants to do, but he wants to play, that’s for sure.

He’s been great for it LIVERPOOL and if he leaves, the club will move on and he will get the minutes he wants. But he is good quality and the loyal Reds fans will wish him all the best on his departure.
