We are back with our mini series that look at the updated depth card of all player positions within the Calgary Flames organization. Today we will take a look at goal congregation. The flames seem to have found stability in the net in the future, because it is a position that is no longer a weakness for the team.
Players currently become contract
| Player | 2024-25 League |
| Dustin Wolf | NHL |
| Devin Cooley | Ahl |
| Ivan Prosvetov | KHL |
| Arsenii Sergeev | NCAA Big 10 |
| Owen say | NCAA Big 10 |
The target housing situation of the Flames has solidified with the arrival of Dustin Wolf. He will be a future star in the net and will be the backbone of this team for a while. After all, he was a big reason why the flames were in the play -off conversation, as he dominated in his Rookie season.
Regarding the backup position of the Flames, it looks foggy. Ivan Prospetov was taken from Russia in the hope that he would be the one who would make Wolf Backup. Devin Cooley, however, earned the place about him. Both players have minimal NHL experience, because Cooley has only six games under his belt. In short, the flames can be much dependent on Wolf this season.
Arsenii Sergeev and Owen say that two interesting goalkeepers are. Both played in the NCAA BIG-10 League last season, where they recorded save percentages more than 0.910. Say will start this season in the AHL with the Wranglers, where he will probably be their backup. They are both still relatively young, so maybe there is something. Anyway, it is likely that both players will develop into solid goalkeepers, at least in the AHL level
The non -signed group
| Player | 2024-25 League |
| Kirill Zarubin | RUS-MHL |
| Yegor Yegorov | RUS-MHL |
| Daniil Chechelev | RUS-VHL |
With regard to non -signed goalkeepers, the flames have a trio players from Russia. These goalkeepers have a long way to pro -hockey, but fans should not all count them all. The players who stand out for me are Kirill Zarubin and Yegor Yegorov. As for Daniil Chechelev, he is already 24 and the opportunities he sees pro -hockey are small for the time being.
Zarubin and Yegorov are both 20 years old, so there is potential there. Both players are on their way in Russia this season, with Zarubin with a savings percentage of 0.923 with a 2.20 go in seven games so far. Yegorov currently has a savings percentage of 0.914 and a 3.19 go in five games.
In general, although low in the depth card, these two keepers could progress considerably if they get a chance in North America at a certain moment. I expect that the Flames will eventually sign an ELC at least one of them.
Last thoughts
Goal tending has always been a bit of a struggle for the flames in earlier regimes. Now with Dustin Wolf at the helm, it is a concern that the flames no longer have to have. That said, Wolf cannot wear the load forever, because he needs help from his back -up goalkeeper and the attackers and defenders of the team.
