To return the last moments (and the objects) of an ordinary family of Pompeii, in that dramatic August 24, 79 AD, the recent excavation in the house of Elle and Frisso, Via del Vesuvius, who tells us that the chronicle of a final attempt of the inhabitants of the inhabitants is to save us from Vesuvius’ rage.

The house is due to its name to the mythological framework that is found in the central panel of a wall of the triclinium, which frisses Frisso on the saddle of the Crisomallo and his sister Elle shortly before the traps. The myth wants the two to escape the persecution of Ino by flying on the back of a whirlwind with a golden fleece. During the journey, Elle would have fallen into the sea who would accept the name Ellesponto from her. The fresco is depicted the tragic moment of the girl’s death while he provides his brother in search of help, an example of a widespread idea of ​​tragedies of men and women, girls and boys, victims of different disaster.
Their function in the houses of the middle and high classes had to be mainly entertainment, the performance of the economic and cultural status, the “beauty”, which also takes place in this medium -size Domus near the Leda House and the Zwaan.
In addition to the entrance, the excavation brought to the light on the atrium with Impluvium (water collection tank), a bedroom (cubiculum), a pastry room (tricliniium) with richly decorated walls, a compartment with a roof and an opening in the middle before the passage of rainwater, an environment that could have the entrance to the Lapilli. Only from the bed was it possible to reproduce the cast, after identifying the solidified axis of the empty, formed after the organic decomposition of the wood. Inside, the plaster was useful to reconstruct the shape of the bed as a footprint in the axis.
