Amorim laments Man Utd’s inability to pull off a ‘fun’ draw

Ruben Amorim cut a frustrated figure after Man Utd failed to beat Bournemouth despite scoring four goals at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The two sides traded blows in a breathtaking Premier League encounter that ended 4-4 and a share of the spoils.

Amad Diallo gave United an early lead with a close-range header, which was canceled out by Antoine Semenyo’s brilliant strike before the end of the first half.

However, the Red Devils took the lead into halftime after Casemiro headed in from a corner just before half time.

United started the match as the stronger team, but Bournemouth were much better after the break. They equalized immediately after the restart when Evanilson Senne left Lammens behind with an excellent finish.

Six minutes later, Marcus Tavernier scored from a direct free kick to put the Cherries 3-2, but the match had more twists and turns.

Bruno Fernandes leveled matters again with an even more impressive free-kick, just before Matheus Cunha scored his second goal of the season to put the hosts ahead for the third time.

However, super sub Eli Junior Kroupi ensured that Bournemouth would not go home empty-handed. The striker put the ball in the corner of the net in the 84th minute and the visitors had chances to win the ball, but both teams shook hands for a point each.

Amorim laments Man Utd’s inability to seal ‘nice’ draw at Bournemouth

“A nice match,” he told Sky Sports after the final whistle. “I think we started very well. We played a very good first half. The result should be very different.”

“We lost concentration and they scored two goals. But we managed to get back into the game. We scored two goals again and then we have to finish the game. We have to think about not going again, but staying calm and finishing the game.”

“A lot of good things, but also a lot of things to work on.

“We sometimes don’t win games on the details, because it’s a back four, a back three, a back five. It’s the details that we have to work on, understand the momentum of the game. You have to be more clinical because today against a very good team we are creating so many chances to win the game.”
