“The Prince” is deeply sad.

No. 4 Ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flying weight Amir Albazi was set to give his third consecutive promotional main event this weekend at UFC Vegas 108 against Tatsuro TairaBut on Monday it was announced that he had to withdraw due to medical problems.

Today (Tuesday July 29, 2025) Albazi went to social media to reveal what happened.

“I am deeply sad to announce that I will not fight on 2 August.

I finished my entire training camp and did everything I could, but I was not released on time. The UFC and the committee have made the call for my safety. I respect their decision, even though I wanted to get into that cage and take care of business.

I will be stronger and better again. This is just a setback, not the end.

Thank you to my fans, my team and everyone who supports me through the ups and downs. “

This is a brutal blow to Albazi, who is no stranger to adversity. Between 2023 and 2024, the 31-year-old passed a debilitating 16-month dismissal, in which injuries were fought, including a heart surgery and another injury that had paralyzed him as untreated. Whether those struggles in the past played a role in the decision of the Nevada Athletic Commission to get him from UFC Vegas 108 remains unclear, but the timing is stuck.

Albazi’s last fight saw his six-fighter winning streak breaking through former champion Brandon Moreno At UFC Edmonton in 2024, which marks its first UFC loss. Now, with this latest setback, “The Prince” is confronted with another rise in the uphill climb to reclaim his place in the flying weight title photo.
