Rochester, NY – Rochester Americans General Manager Jason Karmanos today announced that the team has signed Red savage To a two-year American Hockey League contract.

Savage, 22, starts his professional career after splitting his four -year collegial career between Miami from Ohio University and Michigan State University (NCAA) from 2021 to 25. In 125 games between the Redhawks and Spartans, Savage amounted to 28 goals and 40 assists for 68 points.

The Scottsdale, Arizona, Native helped Michigan State to earn the BIG-10 championship during his two seasons, including the 2023-24 campaign when he produced skating and career hogers in all 38 games in all attacking categories. In his last season in East Lansing, he served as a team captain and registered 11 points (5+6) in 20 games before he sustained a seasonal injury in January.

Savage was named Miami Hockey’s Dr. in 2021-22 Phillip Shriver Rookie of the year after the fifth of all Redhawks Vooruit with 16 points and in fourth place in Assists (10) in 35 games. He was also appointed as the NCHC Academic All-Conference team in 2022-23.

Before he went to Miami from the University of Ohio, Savage registered 36 points on 16 goals and 20 assists in 40 games in the US National Team Development Program of 2019-21, including one season under former Amerk-head coach Seth Apples.

Savage, the son of former NHL attacker Brian Savage, represented Team USA on the IIHF World Junior Championships 2022 and 2023. In addition, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Vooruit represented the US at the World U17 Hockey Challenge in 2019.

Savage is also the second cousin of Amerks Hall of Famer and six times Stanley Cup-winning defender Larry Hillman, who spent six seasons with the Amerks from 1961 to 1968 and won the Calder Cup championship of 1965.

Savage was originally set up in the fourth round (114one generally) by Detroit in the NHL design of 2021
