Since the start of the tax year 2025 on October 1, the DHS says that the American coastguard team teams have repatriated more than 600 Haitians without papers with 857 aliens to Haiti in FY24.
The Department of Homeland Security says that the crew of the American coast guard Cutter Spencer has repatriated nearly 200 Haitian immigrants without papers after a dangerously overloaded ship about 40 miles north of Cap-Haïtien, Haiti. The Haitians group tried to escape a country plagued by violence and instability.
According to the DHS, Spencer’s crew has informed the American coast guard Southeast District of an overloaded ship that was disabled in international waters. On board the Coast Guard Cutter, the Haitians were processed to determine their identity and provided with food, water, shelter and basic medical help before being reduced to Haiti days later.
“The Coast Guard is dedicated to our mission to protect America by protecting our maritime boundaries and preventing illegal access to the United States and its areas,” Lieutenant CMDR. Cory Arsenault, Coast Guard Liaison Officer of the American Embassy in Port-au-Prince, said in a statement. “Everyone who tries to enter the United States by sea illegally will be prohibited and repatriated, consistent with American law and policy.”
Haitian immigrants looking for escalating violence

These incidents have seriously influenced public services, including electricity, water supply, sanitary facilities, health care, education and more.
Data from the World Food Program shows that Haiti has one of the highest proportions of acute food-our-interrupted people in every crisis worldwide. In a report from August 2024 to February 2025, more than five million people need humanitarian aid. Moreover, more than five million people are confronted with acute food insecurity, including two million emergency levels. According to the United Nations, Almost 1.7 million people in Haiti are displaced and require humanitarian aid.
