Meta’s Quest 3S is a great entry point into the world of virtual reality. It’s better than the Quest 2 and introduces several improvements in “performance, capabilities and user experience,” according to ZDNET editor-in-chief Kerry Wan, who reviewed the device in 2024. Most importantly, it’s cheaper than the $500 Quest 3, especially since Amazon is once again offering a big deal on the headset ahead of the new year.

For a limited time you can get the Meta Quest 3S at the retailer for $349, a $50 discount. That’s not all. You’ll also receive a free $50 digital Amazon credit, which you can redeem after purchase and spend as you please with the online giant. The digital credit is a bonus with several discounted Quest 3S bundles, including the cheapest at $250 Meta Quest 3S Gorilla Tag Bundle and the $349 Meta Quest 3S Batman: Arkham Shadow Bundle.

This digital credit is also offered when you shop for the Meta quest 3 for $499.

What’s nice about the Meta Quest 3S is that it takes cues from the older generation and the Quest 3, and combines them admirably. For example, it offers the same comfort as the Quest 2. It is mainly made of hard plastic and fabric and weighs approximately 514 grams. The flexible, Y-shaped headband allows for unrestricted movement while sitting securely on your head. Thanks to the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, the device can load apps faster than its predecessor, maintain stable frame rates and offer two hours of battery life.

I would also like to review the $50 credit as there are some essential terms and conditions that you should be aware of. Firstly, the offer only applies to products sold directly by Amazon itself. Items from third party sellers are not of quality. This offer does not apply to digital content and is only valid while supplies last. The promotional credit expires on February 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT, so you still have some time to decide how to spend it.

How I rated this deal

According to ZDNET’s rating system, I give this deal a 2 out of 5. It’s about $20 more than some of the deals ZDNET Experts saw during Black Friday this year, but it’s still one of the better prices we’ve seen the Quest 3S sell for. In addition, a free $50 credit that you can spend as you wish is always a welcome bonus. If you’re considering getting into VR or upgrading from an older model, I recommend taking advantage of the bundle while it’s available.
