Blackburn Rovers interim boss Damien Johnson has done just that said Eiran Cashin has been ‘great’ since his winter change.
Blackburn Rovers signed the central defender on loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window. That’s him because of the rest of the season with Rovers.
Cashin, 24, has made four appearances in all competitions for the Lancashire side so far, three of which came in the Championship. He spent the first half of this season at Birmingham City and made 13 appearances for the Blues before his deal in the Midlands was cut short.
Johnson has been impressed with his start at Ewood Park and has given his verdict, according to a report from BBC Sports: “It’s good when defenders can score goals, so we are very happy. Cash has been great since he joined the club. It was a good period for us, we had a few crosses and shots, so it was nice to convert the chance because we know how important the first goals are.”
Blackburn Rovers are in 21st place in the table after 30 games. They are above the bottom three on goal difference, ahead of West Brom.

Cashin rose through the Derby County academy and was a regular for the Rams at various youth levels before breaking into the first team at Pride Park. He played 144 games and scored six goals before earning a move to the top level with Brighton and Hove Albion in 2024. for £9 million.

What next for Blackburn Rovers?
Blackburn Rovers will be relieved to have beaten Sheffield Wednesday last time out. Rovers won 1-0 against the Owls, with Cashin scoring the winner in the first half.
They are back in action on Saturday and will now look to build some momentum and get out of the relegation zone. Next up is a tricky trip to Carrow Road to play Norwich City.
In the meantime, the hunt for a new manager continues. They are looking for a replacement for Valerien Ismael, who was sacked following their recent poor run of form.
Blackburn Rovers have a big decision to make about who they will appoint as their next head coach. Johnson will remain the caretaker until a permanent boss is found.
