All or nothing has always been my approach to dressing up. If it has to be that way, then that’s the way it is, I’d rather leave it that way if I can’t do it right, etc.
As you know, it’s now time for all the saints’ own costume season, and we’ve been invited to a Halloween party with mandatory costume parties! Inspiration for how to dress has been scarce, while Joni decided to be a cat-witch-leopard zombie a few weeks ago, so she’s all set.
But then I was flipping through the latest issue of The World of Interiors and they had a feature article for a fabric collection that suddenly lit the light of inspiration in me! They show off the fabrics through different costumes, dressing up as lamps, stools, bookshelves, etc. A playful, creative but not too complicated take on dressing up!
When the inspiration started, it was straight to the mother of all our inspiration and ideas, Pinterest, only to be immediately overwhelmed by yet another wave of ideas:
The party is already on Saturday, so I realize that time is short. But it’s a costume contest, so competition nerves come into play! If I could have predicted better, I probably would have wanted to make some sort of large paper mache hat or head. It still needs to be dried and dyed and varnished and hi and haw, so I think I’ll sew something. Maybe we should go with another idea that Joni has, robot cat. A cardboard head wrapped in aluminum foil?
