Aljamain Sterling came overly at UFC Shanghai, but some damage was caused.
Sterling had a one -sided show against Brian Ortega in their five -round featherweight collision. It was a clean sweep for ‘Funkmaster’, which insured 50-45 scores of all three judges. It was a big win for Sterling, which is now in the top five rankings of featherweight.
It is not all good news for the former UFC Bantamweight champion, as he revealed to his Youtube -channel that he sustained an injury during the fight (via Mmajunkie.com).
“So I got my MRI back: degree 2 tear in my tricep,” said Sterling. “But they said tension. As he reads the report, he goes,” Grade 2 tribe. ” So I am relaxed, I am chilling: ‘A tribe is a tear.
Sterling hopes that the injury will not prevent him from having no fight before the end of the year.
“I am a bit sad because the momentum clearly drives on a wave, then that happens,” said Sterling. “I think I might be back and be ready to compete in December, which I still think I can. It just depends on how quickly this heals.”
The weight class of 145 pounds has warmed up with a whole series of worthy contenders. The will of Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy have emerged as potential title challenges. Reigning champion Alexander Volkanovski has called to face Murphy after the spectacular knockout victory of the No. 4-ranged hunter on Aaron Pico on UFC 319.
Time will learn how quickly sterling can cure before he is able to return to the Octagon, possibly for the status of the No. 1.
