Alisson continues his rehabilitation at AXA as Liverpool return to training

Alisson was among those to report to the AXA Training Center on Tuesday as he recuperates from his hamstring injury, while Curtis Jones resumed preparations for Man United.

Liverpool will host Man United on Sunday on their return to the Premier League, but will do so without their number 1 goalkeeper.

Alisson is not expected back until after November’s international break, with the Brazilian set to miss up to eight games after picking up a hamstring injury against Galatasaray.

That meant he could also not join Brazil’s squad for their friendlies against South Korea and Japan this month.

But he saw the latter – a 3-2 defeat for Carlo Ancelotti’s side – alongside Japanese captain Wataru Endo at the AXA Training Center on Tuesday morning.

Endo was also left out as his national team suffered a hamstring problem of their own, with the midfielder instead working on his recovery on Merseyside.

It remains to be seen whether he will be ruled out of the game against Man United, although indications are that it is not a serious problem for Liverpool’s number 3 and he could be involved.

Jones was one of the few fit senior players not called up for international duty this month and he shared a photo of Alisson and Endo watching the friendly on Instagram.

His presence at AXA suggests that training work has now begun ahead of the return of Arne Slot and his wider squad later this week.

Joe Gomez and Federico Chiesa were also left out of their national teams and should be part of Slot’s plans for Sunday’s 4.30pm kick-off.

It will have been a quiet day at the club’s extensive facility as Rob Page and his U21s travel to Crewe for their EFL Trophy match on Tuesday evening.

Normally the U21 squad is used to make up the numbers in these early first-team sessions towards the end of an international break.

But with the likes of Kaide Gordon, Kieran Morrison and Fabian Mrozek expected to be involved against League Two opposition later today, Jones and Co. probably limited themselves to gym work.

However, Tuesday evening will be the last international matches for those called up, with Giorgi Mamardashvili, Milos Kerkez, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in action.

It is likely that the team will report on Wednesday and the workload will increase in anticipation of Man United.
