Alexander Volkanovski was confused about Jean Silva being ‘butthurt’ after UFC 325

Alexander Volkanovski thinks Jean Silva is letting his emotions get the better of him.

Volkanovski came into action last Saturday. “The Great” scored another win over Diego Lopes in their UFC 325 title rematch. Volkanovski retained his featherweight gold via unanimous decision to send the fans home happy in Sydney.

Silva watched the event and fired a warning shot at Volkanovski in a video on social media. ‘Lord’ Silva revealed his plan to train with Ilia Topuria, who scored a knockout victory over ‘The Great’.

In a chat with reporters during UFC 325 press conference after the fightVolkanovski said he heard rumors that Silva argued with his teammate after training with The Fighting Nerds’ Mauricio Ruffy.

“I don’t know, I think he’s a little upset about the Ruffy thing,” Volkanovski said. “I don’t think it was anything more than the fact that Ruffy is part of Engage Industries at the moment. We connected a little bit through that, trained there a little bit and he’s obviously a really good guy. Incredible guy, one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. I would always work with him.”

Volkanovski believes that if the rumor is true, Silva is taking things the wrong way.

“I think Jean Silva took that to heart,” Volkanovski said. “I don’t know if it’s real that he’s unfollowing Ruffy. It shouldn’t be like that. It’s not like that. I don’t know why he gets so angry about it.”

Silva currently sits sixth in the official UFC featherweight rankings. He’s just coming off a unanimous decision win over Arnold Allen, which was a much-needed win after ‘Lord’ Silva was stopped by Lopes in the previous fight.
