Q. Your first DP World Tour victory since 2018. Describe your emotions?

Extremely happy. It was an incredible week for me. I haven’t played that way for a long time. A bit struggled – I didn’t struggle for the first two days, but I really scored really not playing the best. Then I don’t think the last three days I have played for so long.

So super happy and super happy to do it here in Britain. I seem to love British people and British courses. So it’s great here.

Q. 2-under the first three. How much was that the perfect start to arrange all the nerves you had had today?

Especially on 2 everyone thinks I can’t crochet the ball, but I hooked a small throw and I felt proud of myself. It was a good start, and the same at 3 with a birdie. It is so much easier to start on a Sunday than to fight a kind of fighting and from behind.

Q. What the bogey at 9 o’clock, what did you say clearly to yourself while you made the turn?

It was a mental error on the putt. A bit like the ride at 18, was not really focused enough, and you know, I did not trust my line at 9. I did not trust my line at 18. Then it is almost easier to take the mistake, if it is only technical error or a bad swing or something.

So I said to myself at 9, such as, you know, you just have to keep working on it. That is what I did every day on the well Green. You cannot be upset afterwards. So just acknowledge what is wrong, and then work on it, yes.

Q. Of course you mentioned a wrong alignment on 18. You had a two-shot lead that came down the last and not the drive you wanted in the trees. How nervous were you or what was your thinking process in the last gap?

I was a bit nervous. More tense than nervous, maybe. But there was no, I couldn’t see if I was two first or one first.

Then the wind – now there is no wind. But it was quite ten miles per hour, and we have always had a headwind all week, and therefore the line of changes. I don’t know, it should have been a little more aggressive line than I tried to take. Because if I just missed it a bit, I was in the bunker. A kind of mental error. Anyway I am happy to get the job done.

25th in the race to Dubai now and of course exemptions that come with this victory. How does this change your goals or your prospects for the rest of the season?

Yes, I still have to play something in the United States after Wentworth. But I think it’s great to do it. My children also come to an age when they really love golf and watch me on TV. I try to say “hello” to Iris and Roy and my wife, Jennifer. It is wonderful that they can be part of it and maybe they can – my boy wants to come out and see me play, and it’s great.

V. You missed seven months from Ryder Cup qualification due to injury. Yesterday I introduced you if you win here or next week or both, Luke Donald will consider and you have rejected me. What do you think now?

I still think it will be rejected (laughs). Yes, it would be great. But I am more happy to achieve this victory. Like you said, the first time in seven years, it feels great.

Q. After two rounds you said you were not happy with your ball-trick. You contacted your coach and he gave you some advice. That vice clearly led to this victory. You owe him a very large dinner, right?

I do. I’ve been owing him for 13 years. It was great to get a little better setting. In general, a little cleaner swing, and it really paid off. I didn’t have to do my crazy practice wing and it felt good.
