Manager Alex Cora wants people to remain faithful to their feelings about the Red Sox.
After achieving a play-off place with their 4-3 walk-off victory on the Tigers on Friday, Cora stated that “nobody” thought that the Red Sox would come and get the late season at the start of the season.
“Let’s face it, nobody thought we would make it until October (when the season started),” said Cora prior to the 2-1 loss of Saturday to Detroit, According to Masslive.
Cora then added the claims that Boston is a play -off favorite on its way to the MLB season are “F – ING Bulls – T.”
“The one who says that:” Yes, we were a playoff team, “that’s f – king bulls – t, to be honest with you,” Cora added. “Nobody thought we would make it until October. It was New York. It was Baltimore, it was Toronto, you know, and we believed we would play in October.
“We set our standards every day. And we touch our standards.”
Cora also said that his team is willing to win it all during a speech while celebrating the Play -off berth of Boston.
“We didn’t come here to play only 162. We came here to win the World Series,” Cora told his players in the clubhouse, according to ESPN.
After ending with a medium 81-81 record in 2024, the Red Sox made a splash in the low season when acquiring starting pitcher Garrett Crochet of the White Sox and three-year-old All-Star Alex Bregman signed for a three-year $ 120 million deal.
Crochet, 26, turned out to be a real bait for Boston, who threw an 18-5 record with a 2.59 ERA and a leading 255 strikeouts.
Despite missing some time with the right quad -tribe, Bregman, 31, had a solid season for the Red SOX, with a sloping line of .273/.360/.462 placed together with 28 Doubles.
