Carlos Alcaraz has taken a strong hold in the pole position in his struggle for ATP-Einde at ATP-Einde nr. 1 presented by Pif Honors with rival Jannik Sinner.

In the Cincinnati Open Final on Monday, Sinner had the opportunity to continue to close the gap with a victory directly from the back of his victory against Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. Instead, the Spaniard will enter the US Open with an advantage of 1,890 points compared to Sinner, who drew five games in their long-awaited match because of an ailment.

That offers no guarantee that Alcaraz New York will leave with the lead in the live race. A year ago, Sinner lifted the trophy at the last major of the season and lost Alcaraz in the second round, giving the Italian 1.950 more points than his rival at the tournament.

However, Alcaraz is now in a good position on his way to Flushing Meadows, where he earned the crown three years ago to become the youngest world no. 1 in the history of PIF ATP Rankings.

The 22-year-old tries to claim ATP-Einde at the end of the year 1, presented by PIF Honors for the second time, after he first reached it in 2022. Only 10 of the 29 members of the ATP No. 1 Club have claimed the prize several times.

Sinner will hope to recover soon for the US Open, where he is the defending champion. Even if Alcaraz reaches the final, Italian can spray a large piece of points – 650 – by successfully defending his trophy. Alcaraz and Sinner have both qualified for the Nitto ATP final.

After the two rivals there is not much that the rest of the ATP tour stars separate in the live race. There is only one gap between 1,335 points between the third placed Alexander Zverev (4,080 points) and Alex de Minaur (2,745).

Ben Shelton in fourth place (3,610) and seventh placed Jack Draper (2,940) try to qualify for the season finale for the first time. The ninth placed Lorenzo Musetti (2,670 points), who also tries to make his debut at the end of the year championships, only runs 75 points behind the Minaur.

The US Open Champion earns 2,000 points, so there is a lot at stake for the next fourteen days. One thing is clear: Alcaraz has control over the live race.
