The annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival Deadly funny This year the competition existed for 19 years.
As Australia’s only dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comedy competition, it discovers bold, brilliant comedians and master yarn spinners from the oldest culture on earth, year after year.
The top 8 freshest and funniest First Nations talents competed in this year’s grand final, hosted by Kevin Kropinyeri, and now Deadly funny 2025 airs on NITV and SBS On Demand.
The 2025 last 8 featured Daniel Newchurch (Gunda, Sa), Dhinawan (Meanjin, Qld), Errolyn Strang (Woolyungah, NSW), Kimbery Benjamin (Rubibi, wa wa), Matthew Bonson (Garramilla, NT), Ngaire Pigram (Rbibi, wa), Teresa Moore (Naarm, Vic) and Yindyamara Johnson (An year, NSW). The NTV broadcast also features special guest appearances from Kalah LoveGrove (Ngarrindjeri, Sa), Janti Blair (Butchulla, Qld) and Proud Boonwurrrung Men Jaeden and Marbee Williams.
This year, former Deadly Funny graduates are also taking part as both participants and mentors, including Steph Tisdell, Andy Saunders, Shiralee Hood, Elaine Crombee, Dane Simpson, Leon Filewood, Ghenoa Gela and Sean Choolburra.
