With FPAI asking the AIFF for representation at its General Meeting on December 20, the AIFF has instead decided to form its own players, coaches and referees associations and has invited applications.
The Football Players Association of India (FPAI), founded in 2006 in Kolkata, currently represents 550 players, coaches etc. and has asked AIFF to make them the de facto National Players Association. They are also permanent members of FIFPRO, the world players’ union which only allows one association per country.
