The All-India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the largest trade union body in the banking sector, will hold a crucial two-day series of high-level meetings in Guwahati from Wednesday.
These high-level meetings will bring together the country’s key trade union leaders to deliberate on the future trajectory of the organization and critical issues affecting the lives and livelihoods of its vast membership, according to a statement from the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation.
AIBOC represents about 3.50 lakh officers in nationalized banks, old generation private sector banks and regional rural banks (RRBs).
The work will begin with the 104th meeting of the confederation’s Executive Committee (EC) on October 29 and is expected to continue the following day. In accordance with the AIBOC Articles of Association and Rules, this session will cover the organization’s standard agenda items, review the statement of accounts and discuss organizational developments.
In addition, the EC will receive updated information on the meetings with IBA and CLC during the interim period, the statement said.
After the EC, the second meeting of the working committee will take place on Thursday. This important congregation will be further strengthened by the participation of the chairmen of the respective State Commissions, together with all EC Members and State Secretaries. “This conglomerate of leaders from different parts of the country is tasked with formulating a robust blueprint for our organizational activities and determining the immediate future direction of AIBOC,” the report said.
A primary focus of the two-day deliberations will be the subsequent agitation program on two crucial issues: the demand for a five-day working week and the resolution of remaining issues of the 8th Joint Note.
“As the strong voice representing officers registered under the Trade Unions Act 1926, AIBOC remains deeply committed to safeguarding the employment conditions and career development of bank officers,” the statement said.
