Julius Ai, a startup that describes itself as an AI data analyst, announced that it is one $ 10 million seed round Led by Bessemer Venture Partners.
Horizon VC, 8VC, Y Combinator, the AI Grant Accelerator participated in De Ronde, together with various high-profile angel investors, including CEO of Pertlexity Aravind Srinivas, Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch and Twilio co-founder Jeff Lawson, among others.
Founder Rahul Sonwalkar launched Julius after graduating from Y Combinator in 2022 and turned away from the logistics startup that he had built during the Accelerator program.
Julius is designed to act as a data scientist by analyzing and visualizing extensive data sets and then performing predictive modeling from natural language prompts. Even with functionality that is comparable to that in Chatgpt, Claude van Anthropic and Google’s Gemini, Julius has carved his own niche. The company said it has more than two million users and generates more than 10 million visualizations.
“The easiest way to use Julius is to just talk to it,” Julius AI founder Rahul Sonwalkar told Techcrunch in an earlier interview. “You can talk to the AI as you would talk to an analyst in your team, and the AI, like a person, would go, perform the code and perform the analysis for you.”
Questions that Julius can answer and present in a graph include: “Can you visualize how income and net income correlate for different industries in China versus vs?”
Julius’ specialization in Data Science even attracted the attention of Harvard Business School (HBS) Professor IAVOR Bojinov last year. Bojinov was so impressed that he asked Sonwalkar to change Julius specifically for the new required course of HBS called Data Science and AI for leaders.

“People told us that you are not going to succeed,” Sonwalkar said about building a product that is comparable to functions that are available at the fundamental model companies. “What we found was that aimed at a use case is really important.”
While going through YC, Sonwalkar, also mounted a viral joke. The morning after Elon Musk Twitter (now X) had taken over, reporters met two men with boxes outside the company’s head office. One of the two men was Sonwalkar, who introduced himself as a recently dismissed Twitter engineer “Satisfied with the ligma. ”
Despite any fame gained from the stunt, Somwalkar insists that his startup is worthy of much more attention.
“I don’t think many people know me more for that,” he told Techcrunch in an earlier interview. “I am now being recognized much more for Julius.”
