A big surprise on transfer deadline day was when it was reported that Eintracht Frankfurt were trying to sign Will Osula from Newcastle United.
Ultimately, the Danish striker stayed at St James’ Park as United turned down an initial loan deal with a future purchase option.
However, now Sky Sports Germany are reporting (see below) that their information is that Eintracht Frankfurt are planning to sign Will Osula in January. The broadcaster also claims that this has already been discussed with Will Osula himself.
However, the one major obstacle they describe is that Newcastle United could demand a permanent immediate purchase price that is higher than they are willing to pay.
With Newcastle United not signing replacements for Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson until very late in the window, then Yoane Wissa has immediately copped an injury on international duty, it has given Will Osula much more of a chance this season than might otherwise have been the case.
Will Osula already has three goals this season and also got an assist for Harvey Barnes’ goal in the Champions League against Union SG on Wednesday.
As for whether Will Osula would want to leave in January 2026 if Newcastle United received an offer they would be willing to accept, I would guess a lot would depend on how much opportunity he gets with NUFC in the coming months.
Sky Sports Germany report – October 6, 2025:
Eintracht Frankfurt want to sign striker Will Osula from Newcastle United in the winter
A loan offer of five million euros (£4.35 million), including a purchase option of 25 million euros (£21.75 million), was on the table. However, the move never materialized as Newcastle refused to let the striker go.
According to Sky Sport information, Eintracht Frankfurt are planning to make another move in the upcoming winter transfer window and have already discussed this with the player. Frankfurt had already agreed on a transfer with Osula. The fundamental importance has not changed since then: the Denmark international still wants to move to Frankfurt, and Eintracht Frankfurt remains convinced of his qualities.
Whether the transfer will go through at the second attempt largely depends on further negotiations between the clubs. The Premier League club are asking for around €30 million (£26.1 million) for their striker – an amount that Frankfurt cannot and will not easily hand over. ‘
