The Hindon Airport of Ghaziabad witnesses a large boost in connectivity, while Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu launched new Indigo flight routes on Saturday, as reported by the Ani news agency. Indigo became the second airline that started with activities at Hindon Airport, after Air India Express.
With this expansion, Hindon Airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) is now directly connected to nine cities: Indore, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Patna, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Minister Kinjarapu called it a milestone moment and said to Ani: “This is a (Udan) success for Hindon, Ghaziabad, West -ttar Pradesh and the whole country. This is a Udan of the ambitions and ambitions of ordinary Indians.”
The minister emphasized the growth of the Indian civil air resource sector and noted that the aviation fleet, airport capacity, terminals and the number of flyers have doubled in the past decade. “In 2024-2034, civil aviation in Tier II and III cities will grow, and we will have to unlock the potential. Hindon will serve as an example,” he added.
Hindon AirportDie in 2019 under the Udan schedule was developed for a cost of RS 50 Crore in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, is on the rise as an important regional hub. In 2019, annual passenger traffic at the airport will be around 8,000. That figure has now risen to more than 80,000, according to Minister Kinjarapu.
The minister also referred to the constant urge to regional connectivity of the government in the trade union budget 2025ā26. “Inspired by the success of the previous regional connectivity schedule, an adapted Udan schedule will be launched to improve regional connectivity with 120 new destinations and to transport 4 crore passengers in the next 10 years,” he said.
Only a few hours before the new Indigo flights were flattened, Hindon Airbase Welcomed its first Air India Express flight from Kolkata, Officially marking the start of the activities of the airline of this strategic NCR location. Air India Express now offers direct flights to Kolkata, Bengaluru and Goa from Hindon.
With both Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Hindon Airport (HDO) operational, Flyers in the NCR region now have extensive options for domestic journeys. Hindon, who traditionally served as a military base, is gradually opened for civil flights under the regional connectivity schedule.
