Afghanistan will visit Zimbabwe for a lonely test and three T20is in October later this year. The two teams originally had to play two tests, three odis and three T20Is according to the Future Tours program. Afghanistan had last played Zimbabwe In Zimbabwe in December 2024 and January 2025.
All four games are played in the Harare Sports Club. It is the first time that the location will organize a Red-Ball game in four years. All nine of Zimbabwe’s home tests were played in the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, where the hosts all lose them.
The last time Zimbabwe Afghanistan organized in 2024/25, they lost the Multi-Format series. The T20i series of three games was lost with 1-2. Afghanistan won two games in the 50-over leg, where the first was washed away. The two tests were signed and won by Afghanistan respectively.
Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has chosen to give more weight to T20Is, according to Espncricinfo. Zimbabwe may need the competitions to get ready for the T20 World Cup 2026. They are in the semi -final of the current regional qualifying match of Africa. If they beat Kenya, they are eligible for the T20 World Cup that will be held in India and Sri Lanka next year. Zimbabwe missed the World Cup 2024 T20 due to a loss for Uganda in the qualifications.
In the event that Zimbabwe is booking their place at the Mega event that will take place next year, ZC will look for extra competitions between November of this year and April next year. The chevrons can stand to a team like Namibia (also in the semi-final of the T20 qualification match) and it is also reported that teams such as the Netherlands and Nepal may also be on the radar. The Zimbabwean lost five T20Is on the bounce earlier in 2025. Now they have now become victorious in six of their last nine games.
