With all the change in the forward group of the Edmonton Oilers for this season, there will probably be some new line combinations. Looking at the preseason, however, there are some familiar faces that seem to stay together. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been put on the same line many times before, but with a new lookout chat in a new season, the question raises whether the accumulation of your two best players is the best or worst idea.

It is clear that two very skilled players who feed each other is always entertaining and probably means good luck. But at the same time there are other factors that need to be considered, such as their teammates and the strategies of the opponents. Let’s look at some advantages and some disadvantages of McDavid and Draisaitl who stand in line together this season.
Advantages of “McDrai” together
Scoring threat at all times: The most obvious advantage of compiling these two superstars is the damage they can cause on the ice as a few. Draisaitl had 52 goals and 106 points on the way to the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy last season, while McDavid took even 100 points. It should be noted that none of the players had a full season due to injuries. By putting together these two high-scoring machines with the chemistry they have, they will do a number in other teams and on the Leaderboard of the NHL points.
Forces teammates to act: Another advantage of loading the upper line is that it will possibly stimulate production in the depth of the oilers. Without one of McDavid or Draisaitl that plays lower in the line-up, it will force the bottom nine forward to adjust and create itself offensive. We have seen what the depth can do when the stars are recorded, especially in the play -offs. Perhaps it might be time for the attackers to really come into their own and to balance the points in advance. It will also create a more balanced attack that is even more difficult to defend for other teams.
Flexibility on their wing: The great thing about having two heart -trophy winners on one line is that you can almost have someone like their other linemate and that they will probably find some success. Until now in the preseason, Trent has Frederic de Usually as the right winger On the first line and it seems that they stay with him in the regular season.
Other options can be an experienced man such as Curtis Lazar, who is looking for a Bounce return season. He is a right -handed shot that previously played with McDavid in their world day in their Junior Championship World Championship. Another man with the potential to jump there is Matthew Savoie. He is a young person with something to prove and a lot of speed and skills to offer. Regardless of who would join them, they certainly have good opportunities.
Disadvantages of stacking oil stars stars
Worn power play- A simple thing to point out is the fact that McDavid and Draisaitl are both on the power of the oilers. And with the danger they form and their speed, they draw a lot of punishments. So if they are caught on a long service where they draw a penalty at the end, will they be good to go for a man benefit? Even if they go back (what they usually do), they will be overworked and tired about what could be a crucial chance. One of, if not the best Power Play of the competition, with more players to go sharp and ready, will give them a better chance of success.
No balance on other three rules A counterpoint for one of my professionals is what could also happen with the best players of Edmonton loaded on one line. The team has depth, but good names with good grades on paper do not guarantee anything when the chips are down. With a lot of talent on the top, any form of struggles of the rest of the attackers can cause imbalance and potential problems. The depth of the oilers has more often been questioned in recent years, so perhaps their two best in the middle instead of filling a little better next to each other.

Other teams can stack against top unit- This is something we see that many teams do, especially in the play -offs. Teams know which players they should take out to win a victory and therefore instead of putting their best players against the best of the oilers, they turn off their best defensive attackers to lock up the stars. And when Edmonton aligns their best players, it makes it easier for opposite coaches to set up their lines and frustrate these two. If the players they are, McDavid and Draisaitl will still be successful. But something like this can certainly hinder their game, even more than the play -off time come.
What should the oilers do?
In the end, it will probably be more good than poorly putting together the Big Two van de Oilers. They are among the best and can be easily calculated for some dazzling plays and big goals this season. This is especially the case if they can find the perfect winger to play next to them. As mentioned, Frederic has received many representatives at that location and we cannot forget the always reliable Zach Hyman, who will hopefully be Return somewhere in November. He is a no-fail winger for the stars of the oilers.
Of course things can change here. There are no guarantees that the lines of the preseason will transfer to the regular season or even the first game of one. You can always get a discussion when we see McDavid and Draisaitl together on the ice.
