Applications are now open to anyone who wants to get involved in Addington Raceway’s Two Show Day Harness Racing Slot Races.
The two races of $ 500,000 – the Majestic Horsefloats LP the Ascent and the Hill, Lee and Scott the Velocity – will both be held on Friday, November 15.
The process to find lock holders for the two listed races started last month with the 20s involved in last year’s races, given the first option to also participate this year.
“There has been strong interest and major support from last year’s lock holders,” says coordinator of Slot Race Club Greg O’Connor.
“It is not surprising that we have made a number of phone calls from Australia because they have realized that they can be part of Cup Week and then racing in the Derby or Oaks for one of them the next week. This makes it a very attractive proposition.”
Last year Gun Australian Trotter Keyang Zahara dominated the first interest ever of the climb while Better Knuckle Up achieved the speed.
The process is now shifting to phase 2. It is for people who are not involved last year who want to buy a lock this year.
“Glotraces are still new territory for many, but with the race of Betcha and the Tab Prot in Cambridge and with last year’s races at Addington, people gain a better understanding of how they work,” says O’Connor.
Applications for both the climb and the speed can be done until Friday, August 29 at 4 p.m.
“This follows on the same timeline as last year and gives everyone a fair chance to be part of this unique experience.”
