The most productive equipment of the game is working on it again.
Although we are still a day away from the first round of the flagship event of the DP World Tour, the BMW PGA championship, all signs point to frequent gearboxer Adam Scott that makes an important change this week in one of the rare parts of his bag that he did not adjust in a certain time: his putter.
Scott has long used the Sweeper-Putting method. He won his only major, with the Masters 2013, with a broomstick -pepper and continued to use it after the anchoring ban of 2016. He was one of the first players on the PGA Tour to play a lab golf -packer, but he has had a mezz since 2002. 1 Max Sweeper called.
But at Wentworth this week, Scott’s first start since the Wyndham championship last month, he appeared without his now characteristic sweeper, which apparently replaced it with a laboratory for conventional length.
The OZ.1I HS is the newest release of the company and the first putter with a heel, using a patented aluminum riser to keep the Asas directly through the center of gravity of the putter, while retaining the properties of the lie arba balance. Scott helped with the design of the original OZ.1 form, which was released last year, but he still had to bring it into play.
Lab Golf Co-CEO Sam Hahn told Golf.com that Scott plays most of his casual Golf with a conventional putter, and he almost placed the new OZ.1I HS in the game on the Open Championship in July.
Scott was ranked in the Top 50 on the PGA Tour by placing every season since 2019 and finished 27th last season. But this season he loses to the Greens and is currently in 111st place in the category after missing the FedEx Cup play -offs.
An important difference for Scott between the original OZ.1 and the new HS version had to do with alignment and setting the putter on the ground. Because the axis does not actually enter the club head, the OZ.1I HS has a much more compact, square and traditional top line compared to the original OZ.
“Because it is a square top line and not like the triangular top rule, changing sight line levels, he just thought it was much, much easier on this model,” Lab Tour Rep Liam Bedford told Golf.com. “That’s why we went all the way from the back with a line of sight of the top of the face.”
The new Putter has a triple line of sight to help Scott with his coordination and to give him a different look than his Mezz.1.
Although Scott has one night to sleep on the new putter, he is not photographed with a different flat stick and all the indications are that the new “shorter” Putter is Thursday.
