International activists who want to sail a helping boat to Gaza have condemned what they called Israel’s threats and “explained the intention to” attack their ship while crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
The army of Israel said on Tuesday that it was ready to “protect” the seas of the country after the ship – the Madleen, sailed through the Freedom Flotilla Coalition – left Sicily on Sunday with a dozen people, including environmental activist Greta Thunberg.
“The navy operates day and night to protect the maritime space and boundaries of Israel at sea,” said Army spokesperson Brigadier -General Effie Defrin.

Asked about the auxiliary vessel, he said, “We are also prepared for this case.” He added: “We have gained experience in recent years and we will act accordingly.”

In a statement on Wednesday, the activist coalition said that “the explained intention of Israel strongly condemns to attack Madleen” and calls it a “threat”.
“Madleen is wearing humanitarian aid and international human rights defenders in direct challenge for the illegal, decades of blockade of Israel and the constant genocide in Gaza, said it.

Israel has come up with increasing international criticism about the terrible humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory, where the United Nations warned in May that the entire population was at risk of famine.

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition, launched in 2010, is an international movement in support of Palestinians, which combines humanitarian aid with political protest against the blockade on Gaza.
The Madleen is said to be a small sailboat that carries fruit juices, milk, rice, containing food and protein bars.

At the beginning of May the Freedom Flotilla ship weight was damaged in international waters for Malta while it went to Gaza, where the activists said they suspected an Israeli drone attack.

Israel did not respond to requests for comments on the incident.

Israeli troops attacked the Gaza Freedom Flotilla earlier, but in a notorious incident in 2010 when Commandos ran out six civilian ships with 10,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid for the resistance of the Navy Blockade of Gaza.
The soldiers killed nine of the activists and injured 30, with a tenth activist who later died in the hospital.
Ten of the commandos were also injured in the frenzy.

A UN report said that all the dead in the activist were caused by gunshots, making the killing of at least six of the passengers “consistent with an extra-legal, random and summary version”.

The conscience and a number of other ships hope to break the total blockade of Gaza of two months that has now seen the region of about two million people who have robbed almost all food and medical supplies.
The coalition said that on Tuesday evening, off the coast of the Greek island of Crete, the Madleen “was approached and circled by a drone, followed, a few hours later by two extra drones”.
It said that it was later informed that these were surveillance drones managed by the Greek coast guard.
Israel has recently facilitated a blockade of more than two months on the Gaza destroyed by war, but the auxiliary community has allowed it to be faster and at a faster pace.
