Toronto – The Yankees have finally found a place to use Warren.

It just didn’t work as they had hoped.

Confronted with Max Fried with a shortage of five runs and then set up the first two Blue Jays in the fourth inning on Sunday, Aaron Boone Warren called for a reliever who was more used to getting out of jam.

The move had failed a counterproductive, while Warren left both runs on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s Grand Slam in what became a six-run inning that served as the knockout punch in a 13-7 loss in game 2 of the Division Series.

“That is the place where he has the chance to be successful to keep it a game there,” said Boone. “We’re going to make our shot there with Will. It’s already five [runs in] And runners outside. He is in this team, behind, especially one of our links, to board. Of course it did not work in the first instance. He ultimately gives us length and keeps us a bit, but you can’t stay away from boys because – that’s why he is on [the roster]. ”

Fernando Cruz had been the first reliever to warm up and did this in the third inning when the Blue Jays took a 5-0 lead before Fried came out of the inning.

But then in the bottom of the fourth, and after Fried gave up a single and a walk, Warren came in to face the top of the line -up.

He walked up George Springer to load the bases, eliminated Davis Schneider and then gave up the decisive blow for Guerrero.

Warren, for the first time since the beginning of 26 September, then threw 4 ²/₃ innings of mopping on 84 throws, but gave six points and four home runs to Dulton Varsho.

“I think I worked my best to treat it as a start,” Warren said. “Get ready in the same way. They gave me a warning. … I had to come in and get us out of it.”

Like nothing else, Warren gave almost the rest of the bull pen a day off – apart from Luke Weaver, who came in to take the final in the bottom of the eighth – which means that the Yankees Relief Corps will be a full go come game 3 on Tuesday.
