Jiri Prochazka gets another shot at Getty/UFC light heavyweight gold at UFC 327
With Alex Pereira likely moving up to heavyweight, a new 205-pound champion will be crowned this spring in Miami.Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will battle for the vacant light heavyweight crown in the headliner of UFC 327, the Las Vegas-based promotion announced Friday evening. UFC 327 takes place on April 11 at the Kaseya Center in Miami and will also see Joshua Van defend the flyweight title against Tatsuro Taira in the evening’s co-main event. There was no mention of Pereira’s next move, although the popular Brazilian has been linked with fights against the likes of Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane for months.
A handful of new fights were also confirmed on Friday, including Beneil Dariush vs. Manuel Torres at lightweight; Patricio Freire vs. Aaron Pico at Featherweight; Mateusz Gamrot vs. Esteban Ribovics at lightweight and Kelvin Gastelum vs. Vicente Luque at middleweight.

Prochazka enjoyed a brief reign in the 205-pound championship in 2022 when he captured the title with a fifth-round submission of Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. “BJP” was forced to vacate the title later that year after a shoulder injury. The 33-year-old Czech Republic native has since challenged for the title twice, falling to Pereira via technical knockout at both UFC 295 and UFC 303. Prochazka is coming off finishes of Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree in his last two Octagon appearances.
Ulberg, meanwhile, has won nine consecutive UFC outings since dropping his promotional debut to Kennedy Nzechukwu in March 2021. A memorable 2025 took the City Kickboxing representative to the top of the contender’s rank as he posted victories over former champion Jan Blachowicz and ex-title challenger Dominick Reyes.
