Norwich City will not appoint Jon Dahl Tomasson as their new manager Connor Southwell via X.
Norwich City is then looking for a new head coach Fire Liam Manning. His departure came after the defeat to Leicester City earlier this month.
As expected, there is a wide range of candidates linked to the Carrow Road vacancy. Jon Dahl Tomasson is among the frontrunners as the Canary Islands try to refine their shortlist.
However, despite claims he led the race, Tomasson is no longer in the running to replace Manning. PinkUn reporter Connor Southwell, via Xhas confirmed this is the case as NCFC continues their hunt.
He has suggested that the Canaries have offered the job to their preferred candidate, but his name remains unknown. Raphael Wicky was briefly linked with the role after it emerged he would not be joining Middlesbrough, who are set to appoint Kim Hellberg, but Southwell has denied this.
This news comes just hours after Gary O’Neil dropped out of the race. The former Norwich City man was in talks with the club but all parties have moved on.
Who could be the mystery NCFC candidate?
With Tomasson, O’Neil and Wicky all ruled out of the race, Norwich City are starting to run out of names to choose from. Former Southampton bosses Russell Martin and Will Still were both also in the picture, but nothing came of initial talks.
One name that has not yet been ruled out is ex-Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick. He is still looking for his first job since being sacked by Boro this summer after three years in charge.
Carrick could very well be the man NCFC has offered the job to. Following links of a return to the club for Kieran Scott, who has a good relationship with Carrick, this could very well be the case.
Michael Carrick’s record as Middlesbrough boss
| Games | wins | Pulls | To lose |
| 136 | 63 | 24 | 49 |
Whoever gets the job will have a very tough task ahead of them. Norwich City are in a very bad place with a squad that doesn’t seem to have any confidence at the moment.
There’s a huge window ahead for Norwich City’s new boss
A demanding period lies ahead for Norwich City’s next boss. The winter schedule is brutal, leaving little time to work closely with the squad between matches.
After the trip to Birmingham City, the Canary Islands host Oxford United on Tuesday, before another home match against QPR. Those early games at Carrow Road could provide the new manager with the ideal opportunity to lift the mood in Norfolk.
December brings brutal turnaround, with games against Watford, Sheffield United, Southampton, Preston North End, Charlton Athletic, Watford and QPR are all full between December 6 and New Year’s Day.
