A digital canvas for Palmer -Servies

Introduction

Palmer service creates ceramic pieces that bring life to dining tables around the world. Our challenge was to create a digital experience that reflects the same intentionality, refinement and tactility as the products themselves. With a diverse audience in mind, from chefs with Michelin star to design-Savvy consumers, we wanted to design a web experience that was so compelling and functional.

A canvas, no catalog

From the start we wanted to leave conventional e-commerce layouts. Instead, we presented a single canvas: a browse experience where users could scroll and make their way through the entire Palmer collection. This design not only offers a more organic, visual exploration, but also offers sales representatives a wonderful, intuitive tool to lead customers through the collection.

“We didn’t want users to click through a catalog, we wanted them to explore a canvas”

Each product can be filtered by color, shape or size without leaving the main view. To make this possible, we have linked data attributes with each product, referring to the collection, color, type and size, and built filter algorithms around that structure.

For users who prefer a more structured display, we have added a switch to switch to a traditional e-commerce rasterlay-out. As soon as a user selects a specific collection, he will enter a lookbook experience with horizontal scroll, compelling visuals and composite stories.

Bring the interaction to life

The most technically complex part of the project was the interactive Canvas Browse experience. We have worked with the French creative developer Alexis Séjourné to bring this concept to life.

Motion played a key role in creating a sense of tactility and pace. From soft relaxation to liquid transitions, every detail was tailored to feel intentional and calm. For example: the product focus status is animated using the Flip -Plug -in from GSAP, so that selected plates can be moved and can be fluent to their end position.

To support different users (Scroll / Drag / Click), the horizontal carousel uses a custom Request Panimation frame -loop, synchronizing resistance, scroll and button controls while the markers keep aligned.

Technologies

The site was built using Web flow as both CMS and Visual Layout system. While WebFlow Content Management and structural settings processed, we have canceled standard interactions with adapted JavaScript to enable dynamic canvas logic and filter functionality.

We used at the front Vanilla JS For complete control, driven by GSAP And are flip and split text -plug -in to choreograph seamless transitions and status changes, especially for product focus animation.

Because the site contains more than 150 product images, performance was a top priority. All assets were optimized in the webp format and in advance to 800 x 800 pixels to guarantee sharp visuals without slowing down the loading times. The result is a fast, reliable experience on all devices used as a static site via a worldwide CDN.

Company information

Uncommon is a creative studio based in Enschede, the Netherlands. To “define the standard â„¢ again”, that is our conviction, it is the basis of everything we do. In essence, breaking with conventions, creative thinking, pushing boundaries and creating unique experiences.
