Emoni Bates was one of the worst secrets of basketball only five years ago.

Bates’ rise to star
It only took one secondary school season for Bates to show its NBA potential. He on average 28.5 points per match and 10.2 rebounds per match in his first -year season at Lincoln High School. Bates led Lincoln to a 23-4 campaign and his first division standing title as he collected a series of awards, including Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year. Bates, however, could not lead Lincoln to successive titles, because the 2019-20-20 season was canceled by the COVID-19 Pandemie.
In his junior year he went to Ypsi PrEP Academy – a school made by his father -. Bates closed the year with 23 points per match, led Ypsi PrEP to a 7-3 finish and was a finalist for the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award. The downward process
