630% in 5 years: Citigroup, UTI MF, others buy the dip in this small cap via RS 360-Crore Bulk Deal

The American Multinational Investment Bank Citigroup bought 57,000 shares worth more than RS 43 Crore in Voltamp Transformers on Tuesday via a bulk deal. The shares were purchased at a price of RS 7,605 each, which was a 2% discount on the Monday closing race of RS 7,774.40.

Citigroup’s dip purchase in this SmallCap Multibagger shares comes at a time when the share has been taken out by more than 40% in the last 12 months. Notwithstanding an extensive underperformance shown by this share, the returns have been at a stallar 630% in the last 5 years and more than 190% in the past three years.

Domestic institutional investors also jumped into the bandwagon to take advantage of the chance. Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company, the Prudential Assurance Company, Uti Small Cap Fund and Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company Nam shares worth RS 65 Crore, RS 116 Crore, 40 Crore and RS 100 Crore, who broke the combinated Blokuralg.

Voltamp Transformers shares ended today at RS 7,508.75, a decrease with RS 265.65 or 3.42% compared to the Monday closing price.

With a market capitalization of RS 7,596.69 crore on the BSE, Voltamp Transformers Downs are 47% of the 52 weeks high of RS 14,260.30.

Voltamp Transformers Limited is a Vadodara -based company and has been working on the design, production and supplies of transformers for the past 61 years. The company claims to have 70,000 installations in the country and overseas. Voltamp Transformers counter acts under the 50-day and 200 days of simple advancing averages (SMAs) of RS 8,709.7 and RS 8,408.1, according to Trendlyne data respectively.
