The incident took place at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Government Model Inter College where officials found five candidates writing the exam instead of registered students. All five have been handed over to the police and charges have been filed against them.
TIP-OFF LEADS TO SURPRISE CHECK
District Inspector of Schools Rakesh Singh said the action followed specific inputs received prior to the investigation. “During the first shift of the high school and intermediate examinations, we received information that some candidates might appear in place of others. Special instructions were given, following which a thorough search was conducted by the internal flying squad, static magistrates and the center superintendent,” Singh said.
“During this audit, five candidates were caught red-handed while appearing in place of registered students. They accepted that they were impersonating others,” he added.
STUDENTS FROM MULTIPLE SCHOOLS INVOLVED
According to officials, the impersonators were linked to students enrolled at OP Yadav Inter College, Mewar Ram Vidya Gyan Inter College and Adarsh Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya.
One candidate was caught writing the paper in place of a student of OP Yadav Inter College, two posed as students of Mewar Ram Vidya Gyan Inter College, and two others appeared on behalf of students of Adarsh Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya. Officials said the tickets contained photos of the impersonators, indicating deliberate tampering.
The arrested candidates also named people who allegedly facilitated the fraud, including references to people who told them to appear for the exam.
FIRS FILED, ACTION AGAINST SCHOOLS PLANNED
“All five candidates have been handed over to the police and FIRs are being registered,” Singh said. He added that strict action would also be taken against the schools where the original candidates were enrolled. “The recognition of the concerned institutions will be withdrawn and their names will be included in the FIR for further legal action,” he said.
The first shift maths exam was briefly disrupted following the arrests, with the operation causing a stir in the centre. Authorities said surveillance would be intensified across the district to prevent similar attempts during the remaining paperwork.
