5 Rangers Manager -Options after Russell Martin Sacking

Russell Martin was fired by Rangers last night to put an end to his nightmare -Stint as a boss at Ibrox.

The Light Blues have had a terrible start of their campaign this season, which were wiped out by Club Brugge with 9-1 in their Champions League qualifications in the beginning.

They also started their Scottish premiership in the disastrous form with only eight points from seven games and one victory in that time frame.

Martin alienated some supporters with the treatment of Nico Raskin, who is a favorite among fans, while his tactical naivety also had gamblers who questioned his suitability.

Now the club finally bit – in the heads of their fan bases – the bullet and the former coach of Swansea and Southampton Bijlen after just 17 games that were in charge of the club for which he played.

Rangers Fine Russell Martin

Gers’s statement reads: “Rangers Football Club confirms that it has separated a separate company with head coach, Russell Martin.

“Although all transition periods require some time, the results did not meet the expectations of the club.

“Assistant head coach, Matt Gill, and first team coach, Mike Williamson, also leave.

“Russell and his staff worked exceptionally hard during their time in the club. We thank them for their efforts and wish them the best for the future.”

It leaves a hole for the hierarchy to fill and they must already have a handful of names in which they can turn to stabilize the ship.

We have looked at five head coaches that the light blues are looking forward to when they hunt a new boss …

Steven Gerrard

The former boss is no longer a work after he left al-Etifaq earlier this year and many fans believe that their club has unfinished things with the Liverpool icon.

Gerrard left for Aston Villa when he and Gers flew high and he could be tempted for a comeback if he regards the timing as right.

Proponents would certainly be open to his return.

Sean Dyche

Ex-Burnley and Everton manager Dyche is known for his no-nonsense style and he would throw away 100 percent persistent Martin plans.

Would certainly get a tune from the current Rangers setup if he were given the task because he would bring them back to basic what means it should be properly defending and goals in any way needed.

Derek Mcinnes

Has hearts who fly at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with an incredible six wins and one draw of their opening of seven games.

The Jambo’s feel that they can push Celtic in the division this term and at early viewings, they should.

McINnes may not have moved the entire campaign when Gers is moving to land their former midfielder. He has previously rejected the job, but perhaps it might be time.

Stephen Robinson

A left field screams for the job. Not because he is not qualified to take a larger job than he has had in the past – Motherwell, Morecambe and now St Mirren – but because Gers may be ‘bigger names’ available.

Robinson has led the Steelmen and Buddies to cup final and regular top six places and he knows the division from the inside.

Would be an interesting choice if the board would give him a chance.

Kevin Muscat

Muscat previously played for Rangers and knows what it takes to win, win, win.

The Australian expectations at the club will not have fazeen who has won trophies as a manager in his home country, Japan and China.

Was rather a desired candidate – before Philippe Clement – and can be viewed again.
