On Thursday, August 28, 2025, Newcastle United discovered who would be their eight Champions League opponents.

Conclusions?
This seems that no Fluke and Qarabag went to Lisbon and at least matched, so that their victory was earned as the road side.
Certainly no reason to think that Newcastle cannot win at home against Benfica on 21 October.
Benfica in crisis, while they plundered Bruno Lage immediately after the defeat. Rumors that claim that Jose Mourinho will be back as Benfica Manager on time to be in Newcastle.
PSV and Union Saint-Gilloise

Another shock result. The team from Belgium with a surprise 2-0 lead in the break and after the break 3-0, PSV can only get a 90th minute of comfort goal.

Conclusions?
It is clear that a case of Union SG deserves this victory completely. PSV may have had the possession, but it was the road that dominated almost any other important statistics.
Two weeks today (Wednesday, October 1) United Face Union SG away from home and based on the match last night, Eddie How’s Kant with a more difficult task than perhaps expected.

Conclusions?
Marseille has a bit of an attempt, but the statistics suggest strongly that they were very lucky to lose only one goal. Real Madrid with 15 shots on goal, but only the two penalties that the keeper beat.
On Tuesday, November 25, we will see Newcastle Travel to Marseille. I don’t think anyone thought this would be an easy game, but certainly nothing from last night suggests that this will be impossible for United to get away with a positive result.
Athletic Bilbao

The atmosphere was good, but the football and entertainment less.
Athletic Bilbao had put it in the shade for the opening of about 70 minutes and Arsenal that created almost no chances than the financial strength and team that was displayed, such as Subs Martinelli and Trossard scored in the last twenty minutes for a Fortunate Arteta victory that had seen it for so long.
