5 EVs and Line -ups that herald a new generation of innovation

If you thought EVs were about to get a dead end in America, think carefully again. The market is about to shift because the EV technology scales and car manufacturers focus on reducing costs. What we all need now is a really affordable car. That goal will only be feasible through electric vehicles, something that some automakers have communicated through their latest news and investments.

The transition will have a deep impact on the upcoming EV offer, with a whole series of innovative new models in all shapes, sizes and price points that are expected to come our market. Shopping around for a new EVBut still stop? View these five upcoming models that we are looking forward to.

To offer the most accurate and current information, this article uses data from various trusted sources and the manufacturer, as well as the author’s personal experience.

Chevrolet Bout

It comes back like a really affordable EV

I was a big fan of the first generation Chevrolet Bolt. It was small, fun, relatively affordable during the time that it was brought to the market and offered an impressive reach for the price. So the prospect that it returns to Chevrolet’s portfolio or EVS is quite exciting.

We still don’t know much about it, but Chevrolet did mention that it will be the most affordable EV so far, even more affordable than the model it replaces, and is intended to position itself as one of the most feasible electric cars for sale. Thanks to the EV technology of GM (previously known as Ultium), the next bolt probably offers even more range and better charging performance. It will probably inherit its components of the Equinox EV front -wheel drive. There is even one NACS Loading Gate For direct compatibility with Tesla Superchargers. The next bolt is definitely a small EV to pay attention, because it can seriously disrupt the market.

The slate truck

Is the small, affordable pick -up finally among us?

Slate car

Slate was by far the biggest surprise of the car industry this year. Coming out of nowhere, but heavily supported by important investors such as Jeff Bezos, Slate promises to deliver a bare, back-to-basics and fully adjustable electric pick truck for less than $ 30,000.

In a world where car manufacturers cram more content and technology into their car, Slate is stripping in the opposite direction by stripping the vehicle to its absolute minimum. It is only available as a single cabin, two-seater, but with the possibility of adding an SUV accessory with which the four stands. It will be rear -wheel drive, with a maximum of 240 miles of range when choosing the larger, 84.3 kWh battery. It doesn’t even have an infotainment system, but rather a docking station to connect your phone.

Slate will not even paint the damn thing, but rather offer a wide selection of available wraps to give it the desired color. All of this is done to keep the costs low to sell it at a really affordable price. Absolutely an EV that we are looking forward to!

Ford’s Universal EV platform

Ford was able to beat Slate on his own game

Slate may have a few nice tricks in the sleeve, but a much larger and more important automaker could reach the cheap, sober EV before it will do. Ford recently announced what it calls its Universal EV platform, which aims to lower production costs and emphasize simplicity at production level. In many ways, Ford takes signals from the T -rule book model by concentrating on a single platform that will give birth to a wide range of new EVs.

What is especially interesting here is that Ford has said that these EVs will be really affordable, cheaper than something else in their respective segment. They offer a competitive range, competitive charging and remain fun to drive. And under the new models announced there is a small pick -up, similar to the Maverick, which could give the Slate truck a very difficult time. The person who comes first is still unclear, but what I like about this race is that car manufacturers finally understand that to sell for EVs, they must be very cheap. And to get there, they have to be again thought of how their vehicles are designed and built.

Volkswagen’s new EV setup

During the IAA mobility event of Munich, Volkswagen dropped a bomb that nobody saw coming: a complete line-up of completely new EVs. Although it is still unclear whether these new models will reach our market (probably in a different form to accommodate American buyers), it is important to underline here that VW focuses on smaller, simpler and more affordable EVs. Do you see a recurring theme here?

The new EV architecture, built in collaboration with Rivian, will fall the production costs, but also enormously flexible, so VW can electrify almost everything, from large SUVs to the small Polo Urban Hatchback, even the promise of a GTI version of that car.

But the great highlight of the presentation was the Id.era, an near-production-ready large SUV, somewhat tailor-made as an atlas, which is aimed at offering a competitive range at a competitive price. It is all still in the conceptual phase, but we could see production models of VW’s new EV -offensive in the coming months. And we absolutely look forward to it.

BMW’s new class family from EVs

Under the great revelations of IAA there was also the long -awaited IX3 Electric SUV. Built around the Neue Class principle of BMW, the IX3 is the first of a series of completely new EVs of the next generation of BMW in the coming years.

For BMW, the name of Neue Klasse is a big problem, because the last time the automaker was in the mid -sixties to start a completely new way of designing, engineering and production of its vehicles. Philosophy gave birth to all the glorious BMW -Sportsedans that we now naturally consider.

Now BMW uses the same approach for its EVs, with completely new, smarter and cost -effective architectures, new battery chemistry, a fully re -invested production process and the integration of AI to promote the technology in the car. It all seems promising, and because of the appearance of the IX3, BMW seems to have made a serious leap for the competition in the EV room. We definitely look forward to what comes from this automaker.
