Yoga is not about competition. Yet there are a few moments in the class that feel as unmistakable victories. These are usually quiet and personal events (hello, mean inversions!).
We asked our editors and followers who apparently small yoga wins earn more hype. The answers varied from reaching your mat (perhaps the biggest victory of all) to an elegant transition to wildlife. What is most important is the feeling of presence or performance – and allowing yourself the space to celebrate.
So continue and honor your small successes in and next to the mat! That is also yoga.

1. At least 5 minutes before the lesson starts, you come to your mat.
2. Do not bring to your mat at all.
3. Practice yoga-home with consistency.
4. Not the feeling that you have “messed up” just because you had trouble calming your thoughts.
5. Exchanging Hellos with other students in the classroom, making the studio a small community.
6. You can challenge to try that arm balance even when it frightens you.
