3 players who may have played their last games for QPR as the January window approaches News: The72 – Football League News

QPR sit 16th in the Championship table with almost a third of the campaign played and another international breakthrough ahead.

Five wins, four draws and six defeats show what a mixed bag of performances QPR has delivered this season.

They were electric in their six-match unbeaten run to move up the championship table. However, Saturday’s draw against Sheffield United marked their only point in the last four games, leaving them in the bottom half.

A busy summer transfer window means there may be no extensive business at Loftus Road in January. But there are some Hoops players who appear destined for an exit in 2026.

Here we introduce three players who may have already made their final QPR appearance…

Elijah Dixon-Bonner

Starting with the most likely of the three, it’s hard to see a path back for Elijah Dixon-Bonner.

The 24-year-old is touted as a player with promising potential and has struggled to carve out a place in the QPR squad. He signed a new contract in 2024 but was loaned to Sweden in March for a temporary move to Morecambe from the National League in September.

Dixon-Bonner plays regularly in the North West and his contract there runs until January. Whether it’s through a permanent Shrimps move or a move elsewhere, it feels highly unlikely he returns to contention with the Hoops.

Zan Celar

Celar was acquired from FC Lugano in 2024 after a productive period in Switzerland. However, he struggles to live up to expectations, and it feels inevitable that his future lies elsewhere.

After the signings of Richard Kone and Rumarn Burrell in the summer, the Slovenian striker dropped further in the QPR rankings. It resulted in a move to Fortuna Düsseldorf on a loan-to-buy basis.

But with seven games yielding no goals, a permanent stay there seems unlikely. In fact, it’s not even out of the question that he returns to West London, and then a full-time move could wait.

Ziyad Larkeche

Last but not least, it’s a tough one, but Ziyad Larkeche may not feature in a competitive QPR match again. It comes in very unfortunate circumstances, and yet it can be changed.

Larkeche had a good season on loan at Dundee in the 2024/25 season and earned his chance in the Hoops first team. However, an ACL injury sidelined him and he remains on the long road back to recovery.

The Hoops could choose to support him during his recovery by tying him down to a new deal. But as it stands, Larkeche’s deal expires next summer. It means that with a return to action this season unlikely, he may not play for the club again when his contract expires.
