The Tigers won 3-2 at home against Portsmouth in their final appearance before the international break. Enis Destan, Kyle Joseph and Joe Gelhardt scored against Pompey as they bounced back from their defeat to Derby County in style.

Sergej Jakirovic was appointed took over as head coach of the East Yorkshire club in June and was chosen as their replacement for Ruben Selles. Prior to his switch, the Bosnian had spells at NK Maribor, Rijeka, Dynamo Zagreb and Kayserispor, among others.

The 49-year-old has since adapted well to life in England. His team delved into the transfer market last summer to bring in the likes of Oli McBurnie, John Lundstram and Semi Ajayi to strengthen their ranks.

Hull City also cut ties with the likes of Alfie Jones, Sean McLoughlin and Steven Alzate to free up space and money in their squad. Here’s a look at three players who may have played their last game…

James Furlong

Hull City signed the left-back from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2023 under former boss Liam Rosenior. However, he has since struggled for playing time at HCAFC.

The former Republic of Ireland youth international has made just one appearance for the first team in an FA Cup tie against Birmingham City and has been out injured recently. He spent the last campaign on loan at AFC Wimbledon and helped the Dons gain promotion from League Two to League One under Johnnie Jackson.

Abdulkadir Omur

The Tigers signed the Turkish playmaker from Trabzonspor in January 2024. He also joined them under Rosenior.

However, Omur, 26, struggled to make the impact he would have liked and failed to score in 37 games. He is currently on loan at Antalyaspor after a temporary spell at Caykur Rizespor last season.

Harry Vaughan

He has fallen out of favor at Hull City and his long-term future is up in the air. His contract expires in June and as things stand he will become a free agent.

The 21-year-old joined from Oldham Athletic in 2023 and has made 19 appearances since, before being loaned out to Bristol Rovers last year. However, he has not played at all under Jakirovic and appears to be surplus to requirements.
