Overview
Ram is reportedly working on a full-size SUV that we think will revive the Ramcharger nameplate. The Ramcharger name was previously intended for a hybrid variant of the Ram 1500 pickup, but after plans for the 1500 REV electric truck were scrapped, the hybrid variant adopted the 1500 REV name instead.
The Ramcharger SUV is expected to be based on the Jeep Grand Wagoneer but with Ram-specific styling, and should offer three spacious rows of seating, luxurious interior finishes and solid towing capacity. Sharing its platform with the Jeep also likely means that a 420-horsepower turbocharged inline-six will be standard, but we wouldn’t rule out a higher-output RHO variant; A plug-in hybrid model is also not out of the question, as Jeep says it will introduce such a powertrain on the Grand Wagoneer Hybrid.
Expert tip: Given Ram’s penchant for the outrageous, we suspect a supercharged Hemi V-8 will eventually find its way under the hood of the Ramcharger to serve as an SUV alternative to the Ram 1500 SRT TRX pickup. For the Aries faithful, that might be a model worth waiting for.

Prices and which ones to buy
It’s too early to predict actual prices, but if Ram follows Jeep’s lead, you can expect a base price of at least $65,000, with top models pushing the $100,000 mark. Being a Ram, the Ramcharger will likely be offered in similar trims to the 1500 pickup and have similar styling that sets it apart from the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
