2026 WM Phoenix Open Money: How much each player earned at TPC Scottsdale

The WM Phoenix Open almost always delivers maximum drama and this year’s edition on the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was no different.

Hideki Matsuyama entered Sunday’s final round with a one-shot lead over Si Woo Kim, Maverick McNealy and Nicolai Hojgaard, with a group of players including world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland not far behind.

Matsuyama couldn’t find a fairway on the front nine on Sunday, but still managed to shoot a bogey-free, two-under 33 to maintain a one-shot lead over Kim and Michael Thorbjornsen going into the back nine.

Scottie Scheffler stumbled in Phoenix. His answer revealed something about his greatness

Then, as always at TPC Scottsdale, things got wild.

Scheffler birdied 13, 14, 15 and 17 to get within one of Matsuyama. Chris Gotterup birdied 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18 to post 16 under. When Michael Thorbjornsen collapsed an Eagle Putt at age 15, he briefly moved one ahead of Matsuyama. But the tournament turned back in Matsuyama’s favor when he birdied 15 and Thorbjornsen bogeyed 16 ahead before falling one behind with two to play. Thorbjornsen dropped another shot on 17, meaning Matsuyama only had to head home for the final three holes to avoid a play-off with Gotterup.

But it wouldn’t be that easy for Matsuyama. He hit his tee shot on 18 into the pew bunkers and clipped the lip that came out. He couldn’t get up and down from 43 yards, meaning the WM Phoenix Open was headed to a playoff for the seventh time in eleven years. It was Matsuyama’s first bogey on the back nine all week.

And there the drama ended.

Gotterup pumped his drive to the right, but was kicked in the fairway. Matsuyama was not so lucky. He pulled his tee shot back to the left towards the bunkers, but the ball hit a post with a gallery rope attached and bounced backwards into the water.

Ten minutes later, Gotterup holed a long birdie putt to earn his second win of the season and his first career WM Phoenix Open title.

Here’s how much everyone in Phoenix made this week.
