The 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii, the first event of the 2026 PGA Tour season, kicks off this week at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. After a long offseason with numerous exhibitions, the PGA Tour gets back to work this week with the 2026 season opener.
Traditionally, the Sentry event is the first Tour event of the season, but this year’s Sentry was canceled. Instead, the season starts at the Sony Open, which is also played in Hawaii. And a quality field has emerged.
The Sony Open will feature four players ranked in the top 10 of the competition Official world golf rankings. Three of those players – Russell Henley, JJ Spaun and Ben Griffin – happened to be members of the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team. They are joined by Ryder Cup teammate Collin Morikawa and their coach Keegan Bradley.
Players will compete for a significant sum of $9.1 million, with $1.638 million going to the winner.
