Unfortunately, I think it had to happen this way before I woke up.
Nearly dying has taught me that success may not be everything. As a child of Asian immigrants, this goes against everything I was taught. That mentality of always working hard and always striving for excellence has gotten me to where I am today, and I am forever grateful for that, but at the same time…I am plagued by never knowing when to quit, because I am never satisfied.
And in case you didn’t scroll all the way through, I went straight back into the water. I knew how NOT to make my previous mistakes and received my open water certification 2 days after the incident! Later that year I got my advanced diving certification and have been diving to that exact spot ever since to RECLAIM it.
2025 changed the way I think about life… and I became some kind of mermaid?!
Here we will find out how we can be satisfied in 2026.
Happy New Year everyone!
