2025 Ryder Cup: play Liv Golf Pros at Bethpage Black?

The Ryder Cup takes place every two years and places 12 Top -American players against 12 Top Pro Golfers from Europe. Both teams are set for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, but will there be LIV golf players who participate in both teams?

Can LIV players play Ryder Cup?

The short answer is yes. Pro golfers who play on Liv Golf are allowed to play in the Ryder Cup. Nothing forbids them specifically to automatically qualify for a Ryder Cup team or is chosen as a pick from a captain.

But it works a little differently for the two teams.

While the American PGA Tour LIV professionals has forbidden to play in his events, the American side of the Ryder Cup is run by the PGA of America. There are no rules that prohibit a Liv Golf Pro to play in the American team. (Brooks Koepka did this at the Ryder Cup 2023.)

But if you play at Liv Golf, it is very difficult to qualify for the Ryder Cup. Most Ryder Cup points awarded for automatic qualification purposes are distributed at PGA Tour events. So American LIV players can only earn points at the Majors. But the captain is free to choose every Liv Pro for the American team as a choice of a captain.

On the European side, a LIV golf player must be eligible for the Ryder Cup team an active member of the DP World Tour and pay considerable fines for playing in LIV golf events.

If they meet those criteria, they can automatically qualify for the team that earns points at Majors and DP World Tour events, whether they can be selected as Captain’s Picks.

Liv Golf Pros on 2025 Ryder Cup teams

There are several Liv Golf Pros that play in the Ryder Cup 2025.

Although, for the American team there is only one: two -time US Open Champion Bryson Deschambeau.

Despite playing on LIV, DeChambeau automatically qualified for the American team based on his strong game in the Majors.

The European team has a stronger LIV presence at the Ryder Cup 2025, but not much. They only have two LIV players in the team.
