The Procore Championship 2025, the first tournament of the autumn season of the PGA Tour’s Fedex Cup, has been Everything about the Ryder Cup.
Ten of the 12 members of Team USA are having it in Silverado Resort this week, while Captain Keegan Bradley seems to have his time to have a sharp time for their confrontation with the Europeans at Bethpage Black. But the Ryder Cup talked somewhat in the background when the tournament started.
Some members of Team USA – Ben Griffin, Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun and Cameron Young – have acquitted themselves well. Others such as Justin Thomas, Harris English and Collin Morikawa did not have their best things in Napa. In the weekend procedure, Griffin grabbed the 54-hole lead while Scheffler fired a Saturday 64 to arrive within two. Swallowed between the two Ryder -Cuppers was world no. 1 amateur Jackson Koivun, who just helped Team USA to a dominant Walker Cup victory on GB & I on Cypress Point.
But while Koivun was the story that came in on Sunday, it was Scheffler who won the day again. The world No. 1 went out in 3-under 32 and then Birdied no. 10 before he dropped a shot at the 11th. Scheffler bounced back with a Birdie at 12 o’clock and then another at 3 pm to take the lead by a over Griffin.
Scheffler arrived at the Par-5 18th who still gave a one-shot lead in Griffin. Scheffler hit his tee -shot in the Fairway bunker and was forced to impose himself. He hit his third to 16 feet, but missed the Birdie Putt, leaving the door open for Griffin to win with an eagle or a play -off with a birdie. Griffin hit the green in two, but left his eagle Putt five feet short behind. Griffin made his play-off-forcing Birdie Putt and sent it to the hole, but the ball hit the left edge of the cup and ran out, giving Scheffler his sixth victory of the season.
