The home of iconic Melbourne nightclub Revolver Upstairs, where celebrities including actor Hugh Jackman and rapper Snoop Dogg have partied, is in negotiations for a sale of more than $15 million.
Owners of the Grade II listed Prahran building where Revolver is located have put the site on the market I hope to surpass last month’s figure.
The Chapel St site went under the hammer today and with two bidders vying for it, bids ranged from $12 million to a final bid of $15 million before being passed for negotiations.

In the run-up to the auction, it was advertised as 1,287 square meters of ‘prime land’ and ‘incredible future upside potential’, suggesting the next owners may not have intended to let the old nightclub tenant sit.
Affectionately known as Revs, it is one of the few remaining entertainment venues in Victoria’s capital that is open 24 hours a day on weekends.
Since opening in 1997, it has been a mainstay of Melbourne’s nightlife, hosting acts such as Fatboy Slim, The Avalanches, Fred Again, Architecture in Helsinki, Aloe Blacc and Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell.
In 2008, Snoop Dogg attended Revolver to launch a range of sunglasses, and in the 1990s, then-husband and wife actors Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness were among the celebrities photographed at the hotspot.

The buildings that house Revolver and its co-tenants were originally constructed in 1914.
Revolver also made headlines after a 31-year-old man fell into a coma following a dance floor stabbing in September 2024.
The 1,287 m² site that houses Revolver includes more than 30 commercial rental properties, including Colonel Tan’s Thai restaurant, plus a loft above the nightclub with 9-metre high ceilings.

Building manager Kurt Falkenstein said the space was long the home and studio of Revolver co-founder and Thai pop star Tan Punturaumporn.
The devout Buddhist’s permanent return to Thailand to pursue charitable work prompted the owners to list the property.
Punturaumporn founded Revolver together with cafe owner and restaurateur Camillo Ippoliti, who is also behind other venues including Cookie and Toff in Town.
Revolver and the other tenants of the building are spread over two separate buildings 229-231 Kapelstraat and 24 Macquariestraat.

Originally built in 1914, the address is part of the Grade II listed Colosseum building that previously served as a department store, parachute factory and bakeries.
Christie’s International, Victoria bureau director Sean Cussell and JLL’S Josh Rutman, Jesse Radisich and Will Connolly led the marketing campaign.
After the buildings were listed, Mr Rutman said he expected there would be significant interest in the site from both local and offshore buyers.
More than 1,460 homes will go under the hammer across Victoria this week, according to PropTrack, after the state achieved a 66 per cent clearance rate last week.
