With so many motorcycles that are launched and renewed every year, it is fairly easy to overlook or just forget certain older models. Although not the newest, or necessarily the best, these bikes are all still very good modern motorcycles. This can all fit better with your needs than some of the latest bicycles.
All bicycles on this list have been on the market for quite some time. They are all proven and offer the same level of mechanical reliability that we expect from every new motorcycle, without fear of the dreaded first -year groups. In the interest of fairness we have limited it to one motorcycle per brand, and because of the variety we tried to absorb at least one bike from each of the motorcycle segments.
To give you the most up -to -date and accurate information, the data used to collect this article from authoritative sources, such as Kawasaki USA, Suzuki Cycli, and BMW -Motorfiets. The motorcycles on this list are assessed according to MSRP.
Yamaha xmax
MSRP: $ 6,299
We start with a left -wing option. Scooters still get a bad rap, but it is not to deny their usability and they are ideal commuter bikes. The XMAX may not be the best option if you are planning to tour two-up, but if you drive solo, it will be doubled as an ideal light Duty Tourer. It is more than able to go on highway speeds and extremely comfortable. With functions such as an electronically adjustable windshield, traction control, ABS and a TFT dashboard with smartphone connectivity, you get a lot of value here.

Honda XR650L
MSRP: $ 6,999
If you are looking for a robust double track, the XR650L still fits the bill. It has 13 centimeters of ground freedom, which is huge, but as a result, the seat height is quite long and certainly not New Rider-friendly. Unlike that, just about everything is outdated from the carb-fed single to the analog dashboard, but without electronics there are far fewer failures, and it will simply leave you not stranded trail side behind.

Engine type | Some cylinders, air -cooled |
Displacement | 644cc |
Max Power | 44 hp |

Kawasaki Z650RS
MSRP: $ 8,899
One thing that can count against the Z650Rs is the fact that it costs a little more than the regular Z650. In our opinion it is worth every extra cent. We feel that Kawasaki earns a lot of praise for how well this retro design has been carried out. It is a fantastic looking bike with timeless lines, but underneath is still a modern motorcycle, with a reliable modern engine. In short, it is just well done.

Engine type | Parallel-twin, liquid cooled |
Displacement | 649cc |

Triumph Tiger 850 Sport
MSRP: $ 12,290
Most ADV enthusiasts nowadays seem to look for the “ultimate off-road bike”. As a result, the more bicycles oriented bicycles have taken a backseat and we think that is a mistake. The Tiger 850 Sport is an exceptional tour bike with an accessible seat height. As soon as you get the urge to go off-road, it is more than able to process most fireworks. Single track will not be the best idea, but the same can be said for a big adv … regardless of the tires it has.
Specifications
Engine type | Inline three, liquid cooled |
Displacement | 888cc |
Max Power | 84 hp |
Transfer | 6-speed gearbox |
Weight | 423 LBS (dry) |
Suzuki GSX-R750
MSRP: $ 13,249
It is somewhat surprising that Suzuki did not update the GSX-R750 this year for his 40th birthday. We thought that a few electronics may now be thrown a way to his way, but it is still more or less the same bike that came out about 15 years ago. That can be ideal for the right buyer. With so many bicycles that offer all kinds of electronic rider aids, most of which simply add weight to a track bike, this remains an ideal starting point for every track -oriented build.
Specifications
Engine type | Inline four, liquid cooled |
Displacement | 749cc |
Max Power | 148 hp |
Transfer | 6-speed gearbox |
Weight | 418 pounds |
Indian FTR
MSRP: $ 13,499
It is quite disappointing to see that the FTR is being stopped. This fact only serves to prove Harley’s theory well that the Bronx would have failed. Although expensive for its class, the FTR has always offered a completely different Rider experience. Unfortunately, it is just fun to drive, and not so versatile it just made a niche product and niche products are rarely profitable.
Specifications
Engine type | V-twin, liquid cooled |
Displacement | 1203cc |
Max Power | 120 hp |
Transfer | 6-speed gearbox |
Weight | 514 pounds |
BMW R 18
MSRP: $ 15,395
The price of this colossus has fallen steadily in recent years. This points to BMW, who overestimates the market a bit, because although some loyal customers may be willing to pay more for a cruiser built in the US, the same cannot be said for metric bicycles. It is still a high -quality range and competes with the American bicycles at any other measurable level.
Specifications
Engine type | Boxer-twin, air-cooled |
Displacement | 1802cc |
Max Power | 91 hp |
Transfer | 6-speed gearbox |
Weight | 761 LBS |
Ducati Hypermotard 950
MSRP: $ 15,995
Ducati has traditionally had a few problems with reliability, especially with the twins. However, that is not the case here, and the 937cc Klomp has been with us for years and has been proven to be mechanically reliable. Unfortunately for the hypermotard, that has not really been enough, and it remains overlooked when consumers are attracted to more versatile options. Just like the aforementioned FTR, it’s just a nice bike that puts a big old smile on your face and does not really serve a different purpose.
Specifications
Engine type | L-twin, liquid cooled |
Displacement | 937cc |
Max Power | 114 hp |
Transfer | 6-speed gearbox |
Weight | 425 pounds (no fuel) |
Zero SR/S
MSRP: $ 20,995
Let’s face it, electric motorcycles are not as far as we all thought they could be. But if there is one radiant light in this segment that has been so volatile, it is zero. With the SR/S we get a sporty commuter bike that offers a respectable reach and a large number of great functions. It is not the fastest sports bike in the world, but it is in accordance with most newer, more street -oriented super ports … except in terms of price. This has turned out to be quite a large stumbling block for all electric motorcycles.
Specifications
Engine | Interior Permanent Magnet ACotor |

Harley-Davidson FreeWheeler
MSRP: $ 31,999
Much of the criticism aimed at three -wheelers is largely due to misunderstanding. In essence, these motorcycles have a very specific goal. For people with balance problems or a physical disability, they offer the same driving experience that you get on a conventional motorcycle. That said, everyone can still have one of these trikes, riding and loving one of these trikes, but they are quite expensive and get used to it.
Specifications
Engine type | V-twin, air-cooled |
Displacement | 1868cc |
Max Power | 90 hp |
Transfer | 6-speed with reverse |
Weight | 1131 pounds |
