At least 10 people, most of them young girls, died after a tractor trolley who wore destroyers for Durga Idol-hundred compounds overthrown in a pond in the Pandhana area of Khandwa District on Thursday.
According to officials, the incident took place when nearly 20-25 people from Ardla and Jamli villages traveled in the trolley for immersion rituals. The tractor trolley was parked on a diver near a pond when he lost and destroyed the balance, causing the passengers to be put into the water.
Rescue teams hurried to the site and so far brought out 10 bodies. The police said that the toll could rise because several others fears are caught. Many of the victims were children. Several people have been seriously injured and were included in the Khandwa District Hospital.
In a separate incident on the same day, two people and four others were injured when a tractor trolley that transported in the Chambal River was overthrown during Durga Idol immersion in the Ingeoria Police Station Area of Ujjain district.
Superintendent of police Manoj Rai, who reached the place, confirmed the death of 10 people. Administrative officials are also on site and help help with rescue operations. Eyewitnesses said the trolley was overcrowded, which led to the accident.
Minister -President Mohan Yadav expressed sorrow about the tragedy. In a post on X he said: “The accidents that took place during the Durga Immersion ceremony in the village of Khandwa of Jamli and the area of the Ingeoria Police Station near Ujjain are extremely tragic. I express my condolences to the famous families. All injured and for strength for the affected families.
