How I keep my house “to the company for 10 minutes”

One of the practices I have adopted over the years is to keep a handful of rooms in our house ready for guests almost at any time. For me that usually includes the Entryway, dining room, living room, ground floor bathroom and library.

My goal is that those spaces can be quickly cleaning up with only about 10 minutes. Because we usually have several people in our house every week, it makes such a difference to know that these areas are present.

Don’t get me wrong now, I can’t promise you the same thing for our cupboards or bedrooms! If you open those doors, I could not guarantee what you would find. 🙂

Today’s clean -up project: The entrance

Our entrance usually remains fairly neat, but it sometimes becomes a landing zone for boxes and packages. Today’s project was tackling a stack of boxes that came in. This time it was David’s monthly shipping of medical supplies plus a few wipes.

To be honest, I never realized how much room for the space that medical supplies could take over until David entered our lives. And to be honest, his needs are at least compared to many. For him it is mainly food tube supplies, but even that amounts to a large number of boxes every month.

By keeping the entrance clear, our house not only makes it more hospitable, but also gives me peace of mind, knowing that the first that guests see is not a stack of cardboard.

Little by little I discovered that focus on keeping a few important areas to keep “guest ready”, makes hospitality so much easier and less stressful.

And you? Do you have certain parts of your house that you try to keep the company ready?
